Our center is dedicated to conducting IBD-related research within a biopsychosocial framework. In other
words, we are interested in exploring how the body, mind, and society interact and influence disease
outcomes and quality of life for people with IBD.  We work closely with gastroenterologists, dieticians,
psychologists, nurses, and other health care providers to obtain a more comprehensive view of IBD.

To meet our goals, we need help from people who have been diagnosed withCrohn's Disease or
Ulcerative Colitis to volunteer to participate in our studies.  Below is a list of ongoing studies for which
you may be eligible.

A Project Management Approach to Crohn's Disease The goal of this study is to determine if a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy is an effective complementary therapy for Crohn's Disease, meaning a therapy to be used in conjunction with your standard treatment provided by your gastroenterologist. Helping patients manage their disease more efficiently and effectively frees them up to life more productive and meaninful lives and can significantly reduce the impact that stress has on diseae activity, including inflammation and immune function. If you choose to participate in this study, you will be undergoing 6 weeks of cognitive-behavioral therapy with a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in IBD. Treatment will be free and you will be asked to complete a series of questionnaires at pre and post treatment to monitor your progress.

This study is approved by the Institutional Review Board of Northwestern University.
